A NEW version of JP Miller's Days of Wine and Roses
opens at the Donmar Warehouse on February 17, 2005, for a limited
period only - until April 2, 2005.
Set in the 1960's, it's the story of Donal and Mona who leave
Belfast for a new start in London.
Strangers in an unfamiliar city, they fall in love with life,
with each other but also, with alcohol - ultimately, the cause
of their undoing.
'We were like movie stars - I used
to imagine we didn't walk we glided - now all we do is stumble
- it wasn't supposed to be like this.' Words that say it all.....
Days of Wine and Roses was filmed in 1962 with Jack
Lemmon and Lee Remick in the title roles.
The Donmar's version by Owen McCafferty, will star Anne-marie
Duff and Peter McDonald.
