Story by Jack Foley
BRITISH actress Charlotte Rampling is to make her UK professional
stage debut in Jonathan Kents National Theatre production
of Marivauxs The False Servant, which will open at the NT
Cottesloe, on June 1, 2004.
The popular actress, and screen beauty, is best known for film
roles, including The Verdict and Angel Heart, as well as The
Swimming Pool last year, but despite appearing on-stage in
France, has never tread the boards in this country.

The production is described as a subversive take on sexual manners
and the cruelties of courtship, in which lust and avarice trample
on the finer feelings of love.
Rampling plays a wife who will go to extreme lengths to prove
to her man that marriage is not simply a matter of money and property.
She will be joined in the cast by Lia Williams (Oleanna), Adrian
Scarborough (Humble Boy, The Day I Stood Still) and David Collings.
