Shakespeare's Globe coming to Hampton Court

Story by Jack Foley

SHAKESPEARE’S Globe Theatre Company has teamed up with Historic Royal Palaces to stage a unique event at Hampton Court Palace in July 2004.

Three plays from this year’s Season at the Globe will be performed in the Great Hall at the palace, over a three-week period, beginning on July 6, to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s performance at the palace.

During 1603 and 1604, Sir William Shakspeare performed seven plays for King James I and his family, and, to commemorate this, Shakespeare’s Globe will be performing three of his greatest works - Romeo & Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing and Measure For Measure.

Tickets for the performances go on sale from Monday, February 16, 2004.
