AFTER an absence of 40 years, Vanessa Redgrave (pictured in the
film, Camelot) makes a welcome return to the RSC, playing
the eponymous Hecuba, in a play which celebrates
the courage of a woman at the very brink of despair.

Hecuba opens at the Albery
on April 7, 2005 (previews from March 26) for a limited period
only - until May 7, 2005.
Adapted by Tony Harrison from the original by Euripides, it's
the story of Hecuba, former Queen of Troy.
A prisoner of war, she is being transported to Athens by her
Greek captors. Having already lost almost everything in the conflict
- her home, her husband and most of her children - she faces further
heartbreak when her son is murdered and her daughter's life comes
under threat.
