HAVING just completed a sold-out two years as outrageous best friend Tanya in the hit West End musical Mamma Mia, Louise Gold is embarking on a one woman show with a difference at the Jermyn Street Theatre.
She also starred in this summer's lavish production of Stephen Sondheim's Follies at the Royal Festival Hall.
Louise will also be familiar from many other musicals, including Assassins, directed by Sam Mendes at the Donmar Warehouse, Adriana in The Boys From Syracuse, directed by Judi Dench at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, and Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes at the Prince Edward Theatre.
Louise is also a very experienced puppet performer. She was one of the founder members of the Spitting Image team doing voices and puppeteering for the Queen and Nancy Reagan.
At 20, she joined Jim Henson and the Muppet team and worked with them on The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, as well as the Muppet films The Great Muppet Caper, The Dark Crystal, Muppet Treasure Island and Muppet Christmas Carol.
Now, in a unique cabaret evening, Louise Gold By Appointment, she attempts to bring together the puppets and the musical side of her career. However, will she succeed when a certain Royal personage is threatening to get in on the act?
Louise is supported by Jason Carr at the piano. Much in demand as
a pianist, arranger and musical director, Jason has appeared with many stars,
including the Americans, Elisabeth Welch, Betty Garrett and Kitty Carlisle
Hart, as well as Maria Friedman By Special Arrangement, Michael Ball
in Alone Together and in Noel and Gertie, with Susan Hampshire
and Edward Petherbridge.
Winner of the 1988 Vivian Ellis Prize for young writers of musicals, Jason has composed musicals, notably Born Again, with Jose Ferrer and Mandy Patinkin, and many theatre scores. He is a musical director for the Lost Musicals seasons.
Director Nigel Plaskitt worked for 13 years as one of the principal performers on Spitting Image, as well as Animation Director for Jim Henson's Creature Shop, and the stage musical Doctor Dolittle. He has also spent a profitable 20 years in TV commercials.
