TEG Productions
will present Our Song, by Keith Waterhouse, on national tour this spring,
opening at the Key Theatre in Peterborough on Tuesday, March 26.
Our Song is a hilarious and captivating tour-de-force by award-winning
writer, Keith Waterhouse, creator of Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell and
Billy Liar. Originally a major West End play, staring Peter O'Toole,
this exhilarating, funny and superbly crafted drama provides a delightful
insight into a tempestuous affair that changes lives forever.
A middle-aged executive stumbles into a passionate relationship with a girl
half his age. Plunging headlong into a whirlwind of romance and champagne,
he increasingly sidelines his work and family in favour of illicit trysts
with his bewitching new love. As their mismatched but touching relationship
develops, Roger (Peter Bowles) becomes overwhelmed by his passions, to the
point where lifelong relationships with family and friends are threatened
with destruction
Beautifully observed and touchingly romantic, Keith Waterhouse brilliantly
demonstrates our desperate longing for excitement and its life-shattering
consequences.
Peter Bowles achieved national recognition for his starring roles in TV's
To The Manor Born and Only When I Laugh. He has recently performed
in successful theatrical productions of Beau Brummel and Sleuth
in the West End. Our Song marks his return to playing a major romantic
leading role.
Caroline Langrishe has just finished filming a new series of Judge John
Deed, in which she plays Georgina Channing QC, the estranged wife of John
Deed (Martin Shaw). She is also well known for playing Charlotte Cavendish,
the love interest during the later years of Lovejoy. Her other credits
include Sharpe, with Sean Bean, and the film Rogue Trader, with
Ewan McGregor.
