Story by Jack Foley
THE hottest tickets in the West End are now on sale - those for
Mel Brooks hit Broadway musical, The Producers.
Starring Richard Dreyfuss and Lee Evans, the show will open at
the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on November 9, 2004, following

The Producers looks set to emulate its Broadway success,
where it has been the hottest ticket in the Big Apple since its
debut, with Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane, in April 2001.
In US form, it has won a record 12 Tony Awards.
The London show, by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, features music
and lyrics by Mel Brooks and will be directed and choreographed
by Susan Stroman.
The plot is now infamous, featuring a couple of desperate writers,
who come up with a scheme to produce the most outrageous Broadway
musical ever.
They think they can take off with all their investors' money
- but when the curtain goes up on their gigantic singing, dancing
spectacular - and the expected flop becomes a hit, they realise
their plan has backfired spectacularly.
In film form, the tale was responsible for launching the career
of comic actor, Gene Wilder.
