Snowman to melt hearts once more at the Peacock

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

FROM December 7, 2005 until January 8, 2006, the Peacock Theatre in Portugal Street will, for the eighth year in a row, stage Raymond Briggs' delightful Christmas story, The Snowman.

As familiar now as other Christmas classics, such as Peter Pan and A Christmas Carol, Briggs' tale begins when a young boy's snowman comes to life on the most magical night of the year - Christmas Eve.

The two set off on a night-time adventure like no other, meeting along the way, reindeer, dancing penguins and the Snowman's many friends.

But like all good stories, there's a baddie - the evil Jack Frost, from whom the intrepid pair must escape before returning home in time for Christmas morning.

With music that includes Walking in the Air, a Snowman that literally flies and snow falling all around, The Snowman promises to be a real Christmas treat.
