WIMBLEDON Theatre Outreach is to present members of The Base
in The Streets at Wimbledon Studio Theatre (Wimbledon
Theatre) on Friday, May 9 at 2pm.
The Streets is a new play devised by members of The Base
(South Wimbledon Youth Centre) and directed by David Rowan with
artist Laura Aldridge.
This performance of The Streets marks the continued work
of Wimbledon Theatre Outreach with young people aged between 14
to 16 years from The Base in Merton.
Wimbledon Theatre Outreach is the education and community development
department, working with the people of Merton, south London, and
north Surrey.
Ian Alexander, Director of Wimbledon Theatre, said: "Our
Outreach and Education department has established strong links
with the community and particularly with young people from The
Base, an education establishment for young people at risk.

"This is the second such project and promises to be a fantastic
new show devised by the group with our professional director,
David Rowan.
"We are extremely grateful for the support of our sponsor
Haagen-Dazs, and Arts and Business, and the Association of London
Government. Without their financial assistance this vital work
at the theatre would not be possible."
Haagen-Dazs and Wimbledon Theatre have received an investment
from Arts and Business New Partners to further develop their creative
partnership.
The Arts Council of England and the Department found arts and
Business New Partners for Culture, Media and Sport. The Association
of London Government supports Wimbledon Theatre Outreach.
