IDRIS Elba and Matthew McConaughey have been confirmed to star in the film adaptation of Stephen King’s Dark Tower.
The announcement was made by the revered horror author himself, via Twitter.
He wrote: “It’s official: The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed. #DarkTowerMovie McConaughey

The opening part of the Tweet refers to the two main protagonists and the line which starts the epic series, which has covered eight novels as well as comics and other iterations.
According to The Guardian, the plot will follow the lines of The Gunslinger, the 1982 novel which started the series. Elba will play the hero of the novels, the Gunslinger, while former Oscar winner McConaughey will play the Man in Black.
Nikolaj Arcel, best known for 2012’s acclaimed drama A Royal Affair, will direct the film.
He has previously told US publication Entertainment Weekly that a lot of the film takes place in the modern world.
