Katie Melua announces UK winter tour with Gori Women’s Choir

KATIE Melua HAS announced a UK winter tour with the Gori Women’s Choir.

For this very special winter concert series, the multi award-winning recording artist will be joined on stage by the 23-piece women’s choir.

Masters of the ancient Georgian tradition of polyphonic singing, Gori Women’s Choir are described by Melua as a ‘completely unique vocal orchestra’. Together they will perform new material from Melua’s forthcoming recording project as well as a selection of classic songs from her six album catalogue.

Says Melua: “The last 18 months of working with Gori Women’s Choir in Georgia has been so inspiring. I am immensely looking forward to performing with them across the UK and Europe this winter.”

Gori Women’s Choir was founded in 1970 at Gori’s School of Music, and is lead and conducted by Teona Tsiramua. Georgian polyphonic singing has been designated by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
