CRITICALLY acclaimed comedy Sex Education has been renewed for a third season at Netflix.

The pick-up follows the successful run of the show’s sophomore season, which saw it broaden its scope from teenager Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield) offering sex advice to his fellow high schoolers to include stories about sexual assault and the experiences of the show’s LGBTQ characters.

The decision to renew from Netflix represents one of the quickest decisions the streamer has made. But it echoes the show’s hot button topics and how they are resonating with viewers.

Indeed, the company highlighted the first season of Sex Education in its first-quarter 2019 earnings report, saying it was on pace for 40 million member accounts worldwide to have watched at least some of the series.

In addition to Butterfield, Sex Education stars Gillian Anderson, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee Lou Wood, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Connor Swindells, Alistair Petrie and Patricia Allison.
