TOM Hiddleston is to star in new political thriller White Stork for Netflix.

The a 10-episode drama will follow James Cooper (Hiddleston) as he is selected to run for a seat in parliament, prompting Asher Millan to vet him for primetime.

However, she quickly uncovers potentially damaging secrets buried deep in James’ past… secrets that will threaten to blow everything apart — his career, his marriage, even the powerful people backing his campaign.

White Stork is described as a political thriller about the paradox of truth in a post-truth world.

The series has been created by Christopher Dunlop and directed by Kristoffer Nyholm. It hails from Eleven, the company behind another Netflix hit, Sex Education.

White Stork returns Hiddleston to television after he won a Golden Globe and picked up an Emmy nomination for his lead role on AMC’s British limited series The Night Manager.

The actor next reprises his Marvel Cinematic Universe role as Loki for Netflix’s rival streamer Disney+.

Hiddleston’s casting arrives as Netflix is making a concerted global content push as it looks to expand subscribers while also competing for awards such as the Emmys.
