A View from Islington North - Arts Theatre

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

IN A View from Islington North, which runs at the Arts Theatre from May 18 to July 2, 2016, acclaimed director Max Stafford-Clark teams up with some of our most celebrated playwrights for an evening of political satire.

Alistair Beaton and Stella Feehily make merry with the machinations behind the closed doors of our major political parties. David Hare attacks the cult of the free market, through a visitation from its chief priestess.

Mark Ravenhill eyes the cost of our military adventures as a soldier’s mother does all she can to avoid hearing the news she dreads. And Caryl Churchill imagines a world where even language is sponsored.

The cast includes Sarah Alexander (Coupling, Smack the Pony, Armstrong and Miller), Bruce Alexander (A Touch of Frost, Love and Marriage), Steve John Shepherd (EastEnders), Jane Wymark (Midsomer Muders), Joseph Prowen and Kathryn O’Reilly.

Produced by Karl Sydow and Out of Joint, A View from Islington North is designed by Tim Shortall, with lighting by Jason Taylor, sound by Dyfan Jones and music by Billy Bragg.

A View from Islington North is suitable for ages 14 +.

Also at the Arts Theatre: Out of Joint’s production of Samuel Beckett’s All That Fall (until May 14) and Red Dragonfly’s DiaoChan: The Rise of The Courtesan (May 9 to May 28, 2016).
