Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
THE cast has been announced for the world premiere of The Dog Walker. Written by Paul Minx and directed by Harry Burton, it runs at Jermyn Street Theatre from Wednesday, February 12 to Saturday, March 7, 2020.
Victoria Yeates, who is best known for her portrayal of Sister Winifred in the BBC drama Call The Midwife, will be joined by Andrew Dennis, whose stage credits include One Man, Two Guvnors (National Theatre) and Hotel Cerise (Theatre Royal Stratford East).
As a professional dog walker, you meet all sorts of people, and Herbert has met more than his fair share. But he’s never come across anyone quite like Keri, alone in her flat surrounded by empty ouzo bottles. And where exactly is she keeping her Pekingese dog?
A heartwarming comedy about loneliness and friendship in the big city, Paul Minx’s story is as moving as it is funny, as optimistic as it is poignant, proving that hope springs in the most unlikely situations.
Paul Minx’s works include The Long Road South (King’s Head Theatre with Imogen Stubbs and Michael Brandon), Walking on Water (White Bear Theatre with Susannah York), and See How Beautiful I Am (Bush Theatre).
Harry Burton’s West End shows include Harold Pinter’s The Dumb Waiter, The Leisure Society, I Found My Horn and Barking in Essex. He also directed the acclaimed documentary Working with Pinter for Channel 4.
The Dog Walker has set and costume design by Isabella Van Braeckel and lighting design by Tom Turner. Casting director is Kate Plantin and assistant director is Jessica Walker.
