SAM Mendes’ production of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory willl complete its West End run at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane at the end of its current booking period – January 7, 2017.
However, that’s not the end for Charlie -a production will open on Broadway later this year and another embark on a UK tour in 2017.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the story of Charlie Bucket, a young boy who loves chocolate. So when Mr Willy Wonka, the most wondrous inventor in the world, opens the gates of his amazing chocolate factory to five lucky children, Charlie would like a ticket.
The current cast includes Jonathan Slinger as Willy Wonka, Barry James, Josefina Gabrielle, Jasna Ivir, Paul J Medford and Myra Sands.
The third longest-running show at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has been seen by more than 1.8 million people since it opened in June 2013.
