Danny and the Deep Blue Sea - Theatre N16

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

DESCRIBED as a fierce dance of the displaced, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea runs at Theatre N16 for a limited two week season – from April 3 to April 14, 2016.

Produced by Theatrum Veritatus, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea stars Gareth O’Connor (Once, West End) and Megan Lloyd Jones, and is directed by Courtney Larkin.

John Patrick Shanley’s classic play is an explosive, deeply affecting study of alienation and the redemptive power of love.

Two castaways, Danny and Roberta, fight their way to each other and cling violently in a sea of hardship for a chance at the happiness afforded to most but denied to them. Here lies the ingredients that make us human: the need to be heard, understood, loved and accepted, and the fear of not being any of them.

New York is many things, but forgiving is not one of them.

Tickets: £12, £10 concessions – available online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/theatren16.

Time: Sunday to Thursday at 7.30pm.

Running Time: 90 minutes.

Also at Theatre N16: Richard Cameron’s Can’t Stand Up for Falling Down (until March 17) and The Rules of Inflation, an immersive piece of performance art theatre that aims to make even the most comfortable uncomfortable (March 20 to March 24, 2016).
