Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
ANTHONY Horowitz’s new comedy, Dinner with Saddam, receives its world premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory, where it runs from September 10 to November 14, 2015.
On April 20, 2003, US Today reported that “Saddam, fearful of assassination attemps, was known to move regularly from private home to private home.”
So what happens when Saddam Hussein turns up on your doorstep and announces he is staying for dinner?
Political and personal issues are top of the menu, but behind the kitchen door something else far more sinister is cooking…
Dinner with Saddam is directed by Lindsay Posner, who returns to the Menier Chocolate Factory where his work includes Communicating Doors and Abigail’s Party. He recently directed the Theatre Royal Bath’s revival of Noel Coward’s Hay Fever, which completes its run at the Duke of York’s Theatre on August 1.
The cast of Dinner with Saddam includes Nathan Amzi, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Ilan Goodman and Rebecca Grant, with further casting to be announced shortly.
Nathan Amzi’s theatre credits include Urinetown (Apollo Theatre) and In the Heights (Southwark Playhouse). He also appeared in the recent film of London Road.
