Forever Plaid - St James Theatre Studio
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
ONE of the most popular and successful musicals in America and now performed internationally to great acclaim, Forever Plaid comes to St. James Theatre Studio for a three week run – from April 8 (previews from April 5) to April 24, 2016.
Join the boys of Forever Plaid on a humorous ‘heavenly’ journey through some of the greatest close-harmony songs of the 50’s.
With one final chance to give the concert they never gave, The Plaids sing nostalgic hits such as Rags To Riches, Love Is A Many Splendid Thing, Catch A Falling Star and Three Coins In A Fountain – all in glorious harmony and, according to the press release, with patter that will keep any audience rolling in the aisles.
Forever Plaid was first performed off-Broadway in 1990 and continues to be performed internationally. In 2008 it was made into a film. This production is produced by Katy Lipson for Aria Entertainment and Guy James, the producing team behind previous Studio hits Jerry Girl’s, Marry Me a Little and Miss-Leading Ladies.
Forever Plaid is staged and directed by Grant Murphy, who trained at Arts Educational School on the Andrew Lloyd Webber Scholarship. His directing credits include When Midnight Strikes (Upstairs at the Gatehouse) and Gangsters of Love (Charing Cross Theatre). He was also an Associate Director on Saturday Night Fever (UK tour) and Assistant Director on Guys and Dolls (Cadogan Hall).
Forever Plaid has lighting design by Ben Rogers. Cast and further creative details will be announced in due course.
