Shakespeare's Globe - Emma Rice's inaugural season as Artistic Director

EMMA Rice has announced her inaugural season as Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe and it includes two Kneehigh productions – The Flying Lovers of Vitebsk and 946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips.
The Flying Lovers of Vitebsk, made by Kneehigh with Bristol Old Vic, is by Daniel Jamieson and will be performed in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse from June 16 to July 2, 2016.
Delving into the loves and lives of artist Marc Chagall and his beloved wife Bella, the play is interwoven with music and dance inspired by the Russian Jewish tradition.
The Flying Lovers of Vitebsk will open at Bristol Old Vic in May prior to its run at Shakespeare’s Globe with more dates to be announced shortly.
946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips, which played at Kneehigh’s Asylum 2015 at the Lost Gardens of Heligan to sell out audiences, will be performed in the Globe Theatre from August 11 to September 11, 2016.
Adapted from a novel by Michael Morpurgo and based on true events, 946 is a family show about Devon during WWII.
The season, entitled Wonder Season, also includes A Midsummer Night’s Dream (April 30 to September 11); The Taming of the Shrew (May 13 to August 6); Macbeth (June 18 to October 1); and Imogen, a modern version of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline (September 17 to October 16). Along with the return of The Merchant of Venice, with Jonathan Pryce reprising his role of Shylock (October 4 to October 15), they will be performed in the Globe Theatre.
And playing in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse will be The Two Gentleman of Verona (September 20 to October 1, 2016.
