SU POLLARD will lead the cast of the 2015 London revival of Side By Side By Sondheim, which runs at the Jack Studio Theatre from September 11 (previews from September 8) to September 26, 2015.

Stephen Sondheim has been the leading composer of musical theatre for the last 50 years.

This Tony Award-winning musical revue explores the sophistication, wit and genius of Broadway’s most innovative and influential artist. From the streets of ancient Rome, to the high-rise apartments of Manhattan, Sondheim’s songs have a timeless voice which speaks to us all.

Side By Side By Sondheim features hits from legendary Broadway shows such as West Side Story, Gypsy and Company, and includes the classic songs Losing My Mind, Being Alive and Send In The Clowns among others.

Su Pollard has enjoyed a career spanning over 40 years, including notable appearances in the West End in Me and My Girl and SHOUT! and on television in The Royal Variety Show.

She first captured the nation’s hearts as Peggy, the downtrodden chalet maid, in Hi-de-Hi, appearing in the hit BBC sitcom for nine series. She then went on to become a household name, entertaining audiences with numerous appearances on television and stage, alongside a UK No.2 single Starting Together.

Su Pollard is thrilled at this point in her career to be celebrating the work of Stephen Sondheim this September at the Jack Studio Theatre, and to be performing some of his most iconic songs, including I’m Still Here, Getting Married Today and the legendary Send In The Clowns.

The trio of performers is completed by the West End’s Marianne Benedict (Women On The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, The Wizard of Oz, We Will Rock You, Sweeney Todd) and Grant McConvey (Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year).

Side by Side by Sondheim is narrated by one of the show’s original creators, Stuart Pedlar, and with the kind permission of Sir Cameron Mackintosh, this reimagined production will take audiences further into Sondheim’s work than ever before.

Side by Side by Sondheim is directed by Elliot Clay, with musical direction by Stuart Pedlar, set design by Harriet Moar-Smith, sound by Jack Lord and lighting by Ben Jacobs.

This is the first ever Sondheim show to be staged at the Jack Studio Theatre and is in celebration of his recent 85th birthday.
