The Cavalry Behind You - Theatre503
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
WRITTEN and directed by Tom Stuchfield, The Cavalry Behind You will be performed at Theatre503 on July 3 and 4, 2017.
The Cavalry Behind You is described as a First World War play for people who are tired of First World War plays. It is a monologue play without monologues and a WWI story with no muddy trenches, no German advances through France and very little horse – war or otherwise.
Cavalry is an epic web of interconnected stories and is set over the entire duration of the War, with the lives of a British Officer, a volunteer in the French Army, a young American objector, an Austrian builder, an Italian tailor and a young girl from a village somewhere outside Paris, presented with stark simplicity.
According to press material, Cavalry isn’t a show with main characters or climaxes, or beginnings, middles, ends. Set one hundred years ago, it is a piece of modern storytelling with a lot of heart.
The cast includes Chris Born, Olivia Hanrahan-Barnes, Julia Kass, Tom Stuchfield, Guy Clark and Max Roberts.
The Cavalry Behind You has been developed from And The Horse You Rode In On, shortlisted for the NSDF Best New Play, Best Actor (Born) and Best Supporting Actor (Stuchfield).
