PRODUCTION images have been released of the new cast of Matthew Spangler’s highly acclaimed stage adaptation of The Kite Runner. To view them, click here.
Previously Posted: Matthew Spangler’s highly acclaimed stage adaptation of The Kite Runner, which is transferring to the Playhouse Theatre in June, has extended its run at its new home by a month. Originally booking until July 29, it will now continue until August 26, 2017.
Tickets are now on sale for the extra dates.
The Kite Runner will tour 11 cities and towns across the UK from August 31 with more dates to be announced for 2018.
The production will open at Nottingham Playhouse (August 31 – September 9) then visit Glasgow Theatre Royal (September 11 – 16), Leeds West Yorkshire Playhouse (September 19 – 23), Cambridge Arts Theatre (September 25 – 30), Salford Lowry (October 3 – 7) , Edinburgh King’s Theatre (October 9 – 14), Sheffield Lyceum (October 17 – 21), Cheltenham Everyman (October 30 – November 4), Bath (November 6 – 11), Brighton Theatre Royal (November 14 – 18) and Exeter Northcott Theatre (November 21- 25).
Emilio Doorgasingh, who is returning to the show in the pivotal role of Baba, has been nominated Best Actor of the Year in the annual Eastern Eye Arts Culture & Theatre Awards for The Kite Runner’s West End premiere at Wyndham’s Theatre. The winners will be announced on May 21 at a ceremony in London.
Doorgasingh is returning to the show at the Playhouse Theatre together with Andrei Costin as Hassan, David Ahmad, who now plays the show’s narrator, Amir, Lisa Zahra, Ezra Khan, Bhavin Bhatt and Tabla musician Hanif Khan. New to the West End cast are Ravi Aujla, Umar Pasha, Jay Sajjid and Karl Seth.
Based on Khaled Hosseini’s international best-selling novel, The Kite Runner is a haunting tale of friendship which spans cultures and continents as it follows one man’s journey to confront his past and find redemption.
