Previously Posted: Full casting has been announced for David Hare’s adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s The Master Builder. Directed by Matthew Warchus and starring Ralph Fiennes, it runs at The Old Vic from February 3 (previews from January 25) to March 19, 2016.

Joining previously announced Fiennes (as Halvard Solness) are Charlie Cameron (Kaja Fosli), James Dreyfus (Dr Herdal), Linda Emond (Aline Solness), James Laurenson (Knut Brovnik) and Sarah Snook (Hilde Wangel).

Ralph Fiennes’ extensive theatre credits include Man & Superman, Oedipus, Faith Healer, Brand, Richard II, Coriolanus, Ivanov and Hamlet.

His numerous film credits include Schindler’s List, The English Patient, The Constant Gardener, The End of the Affair, The Reader, Quiz Show, Oscar and Lucinda, Onegin, Spider, Sunshine, Strange Days, The Hurt Locker and The Grand Budapest Hotel. He played Lord Voldermort in the Harry Potter series and the role of ‘M’ in the recently released Spectre. Forthcoming releases include A Bigger Splash and Hail, Caesar!

Fiennes made his feature film directorial debut in 2011 with Coriolanus and in 2013 he directed and starred in The Invisible Woman.

Fiennes was nominated for Academy Awards, Golden Globes and BAFTAs for his roles in both The English Patient and Schindler’s List, winning the BAFTA for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the latter. He was also nominated for BAFTAs for The End of an Affair, The Constant Gardener and Coriolanus. And for his role of M Gustave in The Grand Budapest Hotel he was nominated for a Golden Globe and a BAFTA.

Linda Emond is a multi award-winning American stage, film and television actress. Her recent Broadway credits include Fräulein Schneider in Cabaret, directed by Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall (for which she was nominated for a Tony Award). She has also received Tony Award nominations for her roles in Death of a Salesman and Life x 3.

Off Broadway, Emond’s credits include The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui and roles in the premieres of pieces by Craig Lucas, Yasmina Reza, Kander and Ebb, A. R. Gurney, Peter Hedges, and Tony Kushner. Her work as The Homebody in Mr. Kushner’s Homebody/Kabul spanned five years and three productions.

Sarah Snook is one of Australia’s most exciting young actresses. Her theatre credits include King Lear (South Australian Theatre Company), Lovely/Ugly: Transformer, Crestfall and S27 (Griffin Theatre Company). On television, she has appeared in The Secret River, The Moody’s, Redfern Now, Spirited Series 2, Blood Brothers, Packed To The Rafters, My Place, All Saints and Australian series, The Beautiful Lie, in which she played the lead role.

Halvard Solness (Ralph Fiennes), a master architect, has spent his lifetime building the tallest spires in the land. Now at the height of his career and with a powerful position in the community he seems to have it all, but when Hilde (Sarah Snook), a radiant country girl, descends unexpectedly into his world cracks begin to show as age is confronted by youth and a series of revelations build to a tragic climax.

The Master Builder is designed by Rob Howell, with lighting by Hugh Vanstone, music by Gary Yershon and sound by Simon Baker.
