Wicked - cast changes announced

Oliver Savile

Casting news

ALTHOUGH Emma Hatton and Savannah Stevenson will continue in their roles as Elphaba and Glinda into 2016, other cast changes have been announced for Wicked, which is currently booking at the Apollo Victoria Theatre until April 30, 2016.

On Monday, September 21, 2015, Oliver Savile (The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables and Rum Tum Tugger in the UK Tour of Cats) will take over the role of Fiyero; and Sean Kearns (The Commitments, The 39 Steps and Billy Elliot The Musical) will take on Doctor Dillamond.

At the same time, current West End ensemble cast member Daniel Hope will step into Boq’s shoes, with Carina Gillespie, who played Nessarose (and the role of Glinda on many occasions) on Wicked’s multi record-breaking UK & Ireland Tour, as Standby for Glinda.

Also continuing with the show are current cast members Liza Sadovy (as Madame Morrible), Katie Rowley Jones (Nessarose) and Natalie Andreou (Standby for Elphaba). Further casting to be announced.

Jeremy Taylor (Fiyero), Martyn Ellis (The Wizard), Steven Pinder (Doctor Dillamond from August 10, 2015), Sam Lupton (Boq) and Sophie Linder-Lee (Standby for Glinda) will all play their final performances on Saturday, September 19, 2015.

Philip Childs plays his final performance as Doctor Dillamond on Saturday, August 8, 2015.

Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two girls who first meet as sorcery students at Shiz University: the blonde and very popular Glinda and a misunderstood green girl named Elphaba. Following an encounter with The Wizard, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths. Glinda’s unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power while Elphaba’s determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences for her future.

Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
