Young Vic's A View from the Bridge - NT Live broadcast announced
ON THURSDAY, March 26, 2015 at 7pm, cinema audiences will have the opportunity to watch Mark Strong lead the cast in Ivo Van Hove’s five star Young Vic production of Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge broadcast from the Wyndham’s Theatre in London’s West End as part of National Theatre Live.
The National Theatre’s ground-breaking project, NT Live, broadcasts the best of theatre live from the stage to cinemas across the UK and around the world. Over 1500 screenings will take place in over 40 countries with further encore screenings to be announced. Tickets for the A View from the Bridge NT Live screenings go on sale today (January 15). Tickets for an additional preview performance are also on sale with the run now beginning at the Wyndham’s Theatre on February 10, 2015.

Previously Posted: Ivo Van Hove’s Young Vic production of Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge is transferring to the West End’s Wyndham’s Theatre, where it will run for a strictly limited eight week season – from February 16 (previews from February 11) to April 11, 2015.
Mark Strong (as Eddie Carbone) will lead the cast which also includes fellow original cast members Emun Elliott (Marco), Phoebe Fox (Catherine), Michael Gould (Alfieri), Luke Norris (Rodolpho) and Nicola Walker (Beatrice).
Acclaimed by audiences and critics alike, A View from the Bridge opened at the Young Vic in April and went on to enjoy an extended sell-out run.
In keeping with the Young Vic’s commitment to accessible pricing, at each performance of A View from the Bridge at Wyndham’s Theatre there will be £10 seats for Under 26s plus over 50 tickets at under £20 for every weekday performance.

Arthur Miller confronts the American dream in this dark and passionate tale set in Brooklyn, where longshoreman Eddie Carbone welcomes his Sicilian cousins to the land of freedom. But when one of them falls for his beautiful niece, they discover that freedom comes at a price. Eddie’s jealous mistrust exposes a deep, unspeakable secret – one that drives him to commit the ultimate betrayal.
Mark Strong’s extensive theatre work includes Sam Mendes’ production of Twelfth Night at the Donmar Warehouse in 2002, performed in repertory with Uncle Vanya, David Thacker’s production of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, Patrick Marber’s Closer and Peter Gill’s production of Speed-the-Plow. Strong has also worked extensively for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre.
His many television credits include Our Friends in the North, The Long Firm, The Buddha of Suburbia and two seasons of Prime Suspect. On film, his credits include Morten Tyldum’s The Imitation Game, Rowan Joffe’s Before I Go to Sleep as well as Closer to the Moon, Mindscape, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Young Victoria, Syriana and Zero Dark Thirty.
Strong has enjoyed notable collaborations with directors Guy Ritchie on Sherlock Holmes, RocknRolla and Revolver, Ridley Scott on Robin Hood and Body of Lies and Matthew Vaughn on Kick-Ass, Stardust and the upcoming release of Kingsman: The Secret Service. He will also be seen in Mark Elijah Rosenberg’s Ad Inexplorata due for release next year.
Nicola Walker won an Olivier Award for her performance in the National Theatre’s highly acclaimed production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. Her other theatre credits include Season’s Greetings, Gethsemane, Tales from the Vienna Woods and Edmond (also National Theatre); Mrs Klein and Cloud Nine (Almeida Theatre); Relocated, Fresh Kills and Sweetheart (Royal Court Theatre); and A Lie of the Mind and Passion Play (Donmar Warehouse).
Walker’s numerous television credits include Spooks (as Ruth Evershed) and, more recently, Last Tango in Halifax.
Phoebe Fox played Cordelia in Michael Attenborough’s production of King Lear at the Almeida Theatre and was nominated for an Evening Standard Award for Outstanding Newcomer in 2011 for her performance in As You Like It at the Rose Kingston. Her other theatre credits include The Acid Test (Royal Court Theatre) and There is a War (National Theatre).
Her screen credits include A Poet in New York, The Musketeers, New Tricks, Coming Up, Black Mirror, Switch and the forthcoming BBC drama Life in Squares (TV); One Day, War Book as well as Eye In the Sky and The Woman In Black: Angel of Death, both due for release next year (film).
Ivo van Hove has been General Director of the Toneelgroep Amsterdam since 2001 where his productions include Mary Stuart, The Fountainhead, Long Day’s Journey into Night, Scenes from a Marriage, The Miser, Husbands, Children of the Sun, And We’ll Never Be Parted, Theorem, Summer Trilogy, Antonioni Project, Cries and Whispers, The Human Voice, Rocco and his Brothers, Angels in America and Roman Tragedies.
His other theatre directing credits include Strange Interlude and Ludwig II (Munich Kammerspiele), Edward II and The Misanthrope (Schaubühne Berlin), Scenes from a Marriage, The Little Foxes, Hedda Gabler and A Streetcar Named Desire (New York Theatre Workshop), The Lady of Camellias (Schauspielhaus Hamburg) and The Miser (Staatstheater Stuttgart). In March next year he will direct Antigone at the Barbican. He has also directed for film, television and opera.
A View from the Bridge has design and lighting by Jan Versweyveld, costumes designs by An D’Huys, and sound design by Tom Gibbons.
The Young Vic’s award-winning production of A Doll’s House, starring Hattie Morahan, transferred to the Duke of York’s Theatre in 2013, while its critically acclaimed production of The Scottsboro Boys, directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman, continues at the Garrick Theatre until February 21, 2015.
