ON October 9, 2004, legendary New York hip-hop collective The Beastie Boys handed out 50 cameras to audience members at their sold-out performance in New York’s Madison Square Garden.

These 50 different but no-less passionate perspectives, shot from the point-of view of the audience, take the viewers deep inside the world of a live Beastie Boys show, capturing the experience of a live musical performance like no film ever has done.

The Beastie Boys got the cameras back and edited the footage into a 90 minute film that became Awesome; I Fuckin’ Shot That!

Starring; Mike D [Michael Diamond], Adrock [Adam Horovitz], MCA [Adam Yauch] and a number of special guests, the film is directed by Nathaniel Hornblower and is being shown at an exclusive preview screening this Monday (July 3) at the Curzon Soho and at the Ritzy Brixton.

The Curzon screening will be preceded by a scratch hip-hop set performance by DJ James Anderson, from Shuffle, winners of last year’s Diesel U Music Awards, in the bar from 7.30pm.

The film itself can then be seen at both the Curzon Soho and the Ritzy Brixton from Friday, July 7, and at selected cinemas nationwide for a very short time.

A DVD will be released on three weeks later, on July 24 with exclusive extras.

For Beastie Boys fans, this provides a feast of quality music as well as a rare insight into what it takes to present a Beastie Boys concert.
