King Biscuit Time cancel tour amid split rumour

King Biscuit Time

Story by Jack Foley

KING Biscuit Time, the new band formed by ex-Beta Band member Steve Mason, have cancelled their forthcoming tour amid rumours of a split.

The band was due to hit the road in support of their debut album Black Gold in May but even though the LP is still scheduled for release on May 15, there have been no plans announced to reschedule the dates.

A spokesman for the band said in a statement: “Messages posted online by Steve Mason would appear to indicate he’s called a halt to his project King Biscuit Time.

“Mason posted the following message to his fans: “Peace to you all. I’m out of here. It’s been amazing but I’ve had enough. The mountain beat me and sadly you too. That don’t mean you should give up. It just wasn’t me. Over and out, Steve.”

Tickets for the shows – which included a date at London’s Scala on May 18 – can be refunded from point of purchase.

The tour dates were (all May):
Belfast Spring & Airbrake (12)
Limerick Dolans (13)
Cork Cypress Avenue (14)
Dublin Whelans (15)
Edinburgh Venue (17)
London Scala (18)
Birmingham Barfly (19)
Brighton Hanbury Ballroom (20)
Manchester Academy 3 (22)
Glasgow Oran Mor (23)
