Set in Norway, Ghosts is set in Mrs Alving’s country house, where she’s preparing for the opening of an orphanage dedicated to the memory of her late husband, an immoral philanderer she hopes never to speak of again. But when her son Oswald returns home for the celebration, ghosts from the past come back to haunt them.
Lesley Sharp’s award-winning career spans theatre, television and film. Her stage credits include leading roles at the Royal Court and National Theatre, where she appeared most recently in Harper Regan. And next month, she’ll be making her West End debut in Jim Cartwright’s multi award-winning play The Rise and Fall of Little Voice at the Vaudeville Theatre.
Her numerous screen credits include Cranford, After Life, Bob and Rose (as Rose), Clocking Off (as Trudy) and three series of Playing the Field (TV); Vera Drake and Naked (both for Mike Leigh), Inkheart, The Full Monty and Rita, Sue and Bob Too (film).
Glen’s acting credits include the Donmar’s production of the widely acclaimed The Blue Room (opposite Nicole Kidman), A Streetcar Named Desire (National Theatre), Hedda Gabler (Almeida Theatre) and the Royal Shakespeare Company’s revival of The Crucible (Gielgud Theatre) for which he received an Olivier Award nomination. As well as appearing in, Glen will also direct Ghosts in what will be his directorial debut.
Full casting for the production has yet to be announced.
