Story by Jack Foley

RYAN Reynolds has joined the cast of Atom Egoyan’s kidnap thriller Queen of the Night.

Based on a screenplay by Egoyan and David Fraser, the film will focus on the father of an abducted child (to be played by Reynolds) as he tries to make people believe his daughter is still alive five years on.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming is due to commence in February next year.

Reynolds said he was delighted to be working with a filmmaker of Egoyan’s quality on the project.

“Atom Egoyan is a provocative filmmaker. His films demand that we face what is most complex in our own psyches. Chloe, Felicia’s Journey and The Sweet Hereafter all possess the unique and careful touch of a true artist,” he said.

“I look forward to collaborating with him on this project and having an opportunity to observe his innovative directing style first hand.”

Egoyman, meanwhile, added: “I’m very excited about working with Ryan. The richness of his performances in such diverse films as Buried, Safe House and romantic fare such as The Proposal is extraordinary.”
