Sam Rockwell saddles up for Cowboys & Aliens
Story by Jack Foley
SAM Rockwell is to reunite with Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau for Cowboys And Aliens.
The movie, based on another comic book adaptation, already features a starry ensemble cast led by Daniel Craig and including Olivia Wilde and Harrison Ford.
Rockwell will play a bar owner named Doc who joins in the pursuit of the aliens, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It was a role originally conceived for a heavy set man that has subsequently been expanded to cater for a star of Rockwell’s appeal and talent.
Although known for independent cinema, including roles in Moon and Choke, Rockwell is winning widespread acclaim for his portrayal of arms manufacturer Justin Hammer in the Favreau-directed Iron Man 2.
Cowboys & Aliens is based on the Platinum Studios graphic novel and follows the story of cowboys and Indians rising up against alien invaders.
Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are producing along with Scott Mitchell Rosenberg for DreamWorks.
