JAMES Morrison and Corinne Bailey Rae will join Annie Lennox, Marc Almond and Beth Orton at a concert to promote world peace in London this September.

The Peace One Day event will be held at the Royal Albert Hall on September 21 – the date designated Peace Day by the United Nations in each of its 192 member states.

Former Eurythmics singer Lennox said in a statement that she was thrilled to be part of the effort to make Peace One Day a reality.

“This musical event will be taking place at the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate and commemorate the spirit of the occasion,” she added. “Something that is of common interest to every man, woman or child on the planet must surely be the notion of peace because without peace we cannot survive. The whole world is invited to participate.”

Celebrities including footballer David Beckham and actor Jude Law will also record video messages for the occasion, that will be played to the crowd.

Law commented that peace can only work if everyone gets involved and shows their support in some way.

Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin and Sir Richard Branson have also backed the Peace One Day effort.

Tickets for the London concert cost between £35 and £75 and are available from the Royal Albert Hall and all the usual outlets.
