Closer Than Ever - Bridewell Theatre

FOLLOWING their successful UK Premiere production of Jason Robert Brown’s Parade, the award-winning giudecca return with Maltby & Shire’s Closer Than Ever, a musical about life and love which runs from September 5 to September 23, 2006, in their new home – Bridewell Theatre.
Described as an “intimate and engaging musical”, Closer Than Ever centres around four thirty-somethings coping with the rigours of their daily life in the face of shattered expectations and the inevitable sense that time is catching up with them.
The cast will be accompanied by piano and double bass.
Although probably best known for the international hit With You I’m Born Again, David Shire has scored over 40 feature films, including All the President’s Men, Return to Oz and Norma Rae for which he won an Academy Award for the song It Goes Like It Goes.
Shire also wrote the music for the Broadway musical Baby which was nominated for seven Tony Awards.
Richard Maltby Jr, who won the prestigious Tony Award as Best Director for Ain’t Misbehavin’, also directed the Tony Award winning Song and Dance and the record breaking Philadelphia Drama Guild productions of Long Day’s Journey into Night and The Glass Menagerie.
His other collaborations with Shire include Baby and Starting Here, Starting Now.
