THE 2008 Spice Festival at Hackney Empire runs for four weeks – from Tuesday, June 24 to Sunday, July 27.
The Spice Festival is a celebration of the arts and culture in East London. Spice, being the variety of life, is a showcase of local talent with a select number of international stars being invited to join in the fun!
It features comedy, spoken word, street art, food, dance, theatre, music, kids, music hall, participation, readings, slam poetry, cabaret, fashion, photography, opera, gigs, film, variety, weightlifting(!) and lots more.
This years festival includes Chuck Berry, Tom Hunter, Steven Berkoff, Daniel Beatty, Luke Toulson, Stephen K Amos, Madness, Beggar & Co, East London Dance, Kojo, Richard Herring, Hackney Music Development Trust, Richard Blackwood, The Magnets, Sun Zhuo, Crisis and Paul Chowdry….
