Bonnie Langford in Spamalot

Casting news

ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2014, Bonnie Langford and Gary Wilmot will join Robert Lindsay, Rufus Hound and Katherine Kingsley in the cast of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, which is currently booking at the Savoy Theatre until March 7, 2015.

Gary Wilmot will be playing Andre Thibault, Beaumont-Sur-Mer’s Chief of Police, the sidekick and partner in crime to the French Riviera’s chief conman, Lawrence Jameson, played by Olivier, Tony and BAFTA award-winning Robert Lindsay.

Wilmot began his musical theatre career by following in Robert Lindsay’s shoes, playing the role of Bill Snibson to critical acclaim in the hit musical production of Me and My Girl at the Adelphi Theatre.

His other extensive theatre credits include The Pajama Game (Shaftesbury Theatre), From Hackney to Hollywood (UK Tour), The Invisible Man (Menier Chocolate Factory), Chicago (UK Tour), Half a Sixpence (UK Tour), HMS Pinafore and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Open Air Theatre, Regent’s Park), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (London Palladium), Goodbye Girl (Albery Theatre), Carmen Jones (Old Vic), and the world premiere of Copacobana (Prince of Wales Theatre).

On television, Wilmot was well known for presenting hit shows such as the BBC’s Showstoppers. Originally a one off series, it proved so popular it extended to a further six series and even went on a sell out national tour. He was also a brilliant children’s TV presenter for shows including Copycats, So You Want to be Top, Punchlines, Cue Gary and Saturday Gang.

Bonnie Langford will be taking over from Samantha Bond to play Muriel Eubanks, a glamorous divorcee looking for love on the French Riviera.

Langford’s extensive West End roles began at the age of seven with Gone with the Wind at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. The following year she played Baby June in Gypsy opposite Angela Lansbury at the Piccadilly Theatre. The production also went on a national tour, before a run on Broadway (for which she was nominated for a Drama Desk Award).

Her many musical theatre credits include the original cast of Cats (New London Theatre); Roxie Hart in Chicago (Adelphi Theatre/Cambridge Theatre/Broadway/North American national tour); The Pirates Of Penzance (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane/London Palladium); the title role in Peter Pan – The Musical (Aldwych Theatre); Me And My Girl (Adelphi Theatre); and her much acclaimed portrayal of Charity in Sweet Charity (Victoria Palace Theatre).

Langford also played The Lady Of The Lake in Spamalot (Playhouse Theatre), Roz Keith in 9 to 5 The Musical (UK tour) and on Broadway she starred in her own critically acclaimed cabaret show as part of the Brits Off Broadway season at 59E59 Theatres. She has toured the UK in Oklahoma!, Charlie Girl, 42nd Street and as Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls (Donmar Warehouse Theatre Production) and Fosse.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is based on the legendary 1988 film starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin, directed by Frank Oz. It is the UK premiere of this new production, which has been reconceived and reimagined for the UK stage.
