Romeo and Juliet

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

IMMERSION Theatre is presenting what is described as an exhilarating adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet at the Jack Studio Theatre. Part of a UK tour, it runs from Tuesday, October 20 to Saturday, October 24, 2015.

Inspired by the brutality of the Kent miners’ strike, this tragic story of forbidden love and bitter rivalry is boldly relocated to 1980’s England and promises to be a gritty, visceral and highly accessible production infused with heart-break, danger and comedy. Perfect for both the seasoned theatre-goer and the budding literary enthusiast.

The cast includes Clive Keene (as Romeo), Simone Murphy (Juliet), Dan Dawes (Mercutio), James G Nunn (Benvolio), Rochelle Parry (Lady Capulet), James Sanderson (Friar Laurence), Harry Anton (Tybalt/Paris) and Rosalind Blessed (Nurse).

Produced by James Tobias and Rochelle Parry, Romeo and Juliet is directed by James Tobias and has lighting by Philip Jones.

Romeo and Juliet is suitable for ages 16+.
