Casting news

SOME well known faces can be seen at the Royal Court this autumn, with David Morrissey (Captain Correlli’s Mandolin, The Other Boleyn Girl) and Reece Shearsmith (Absent Friends, Harold Pinter Theatre, Betty Blue Eyes, Novello Theatre, Ghost Stories, Duke of York’s Theatre) starring in Hangmen and Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City) playing the lead in Linda.

Martin McDonagh’s Hangmen runs in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs from September 10 to October 10.

In his small pub in Oldham, Harry is something of a local celebrity. But what’s the second-best hangman in England to do on the day they’ve abolished hanging? Amongst the cub reporters and sycophantic pub regulars, dying to hear Harry’s reaction to the news, a peculiar stranger lurks, with a very different motive for his visit.

As well as Morrissey (as Harry) and Shearsmith (Syd), the cast also includes Josef Davies, James Dryden, Johnny Flynn, Graeme Hawley, Ralph Ineson, Bronwyn James, Ryan Pope, Sally Rogers and Simon Rouse, with further casting to be announced.

Directed by Matthew Dunster, Hangmen is designed by Anna Fleischle, with lighting by Joshua Carr and sound by Ian Dickinson for Autograph.

Penelope Skinner’s Linda runs in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs from November 25, 2015 to January 9, 2016.

Linda Wilde has dedicated her life to changing the world. She’s won awards for her efforts, at the same time as working hard to become an inspiring mother, and an independent, loving wife.

Now, at 55, she seems to have it all. But Linda isn’t satisfied. She’s a woman in her prime and she’s embarking on her most ambitious plan to date. But beneath the surface, the cracks are starting to show.

Kim Cattrall’s theatre credits include Sweet Bird of Youth (Old Vic), Anthony and Cleopatra (Everyman/Chichester) and Private Lives (Vaudeville, Broadway). Although best known on television for her role in Sex and the City, she has also appeared in Ruby Robinson, Sensitive Skin, The Boomer List, Shakespeare Uncovered and Any Human Heart.

And David Mumeni and Katie West will star in Cordelia Lynn’s Lela & Co, the story of a young girl trapped in an increasingly tiny world, which runs in the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs from September 3 to October 3.
