Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

FOR A limited four-week season – from February 1 (previews from January 30) to February 23, 2007 – British comedian Bill Bailey will star in Pinter’s People at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.

Made up of 13 Pinter sketches and monologues dating from 1958 to 2002 and performed together for the first time, Pinter’s People includes Night (1969) and The New World Order (1991).

Award winner Bailey is a lifelong Pinter fan and has been planning the project for over 20 years.

His credits include Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Black Books (TV) and Part Troll, his stand-up show that was seen in the West End two years ago.

Bailey will be joined in Pinter’s People by Kevin Eldon (The Big Train), Geraldine McNulty (My Hero) and Sally Phillips (Green Wing).

Sean Foley of the Right Size frame(The Play What I Wrote) will direct.

Pinter’s People, then referred to as The Harold Pinter Sketches, was first seen at the 480-seat Landmark Theatre in Ilfracombe, north Devon, in December 2006. Pinter himself attended rehearsals and, after giving the go-ahead, suggested the new title.
