ROBERT Icke’s new version of Aeschylus’ Oresteia, which played at the Almeida Theatre from May 29 to July 18 as part of the venue’s Greek Season, is transferring to Trafalgar Studios, where it runs from August 22 to November 7, 2015.

It stars Lia Williams (as Klytemnestra), whose previous credits include Celebration and The Room (Almeida Theatre); A Streetcar Named Desire (Gate Theatre, Dublin) for which she won the Award for Best Actress in The Irish Times Theatre Awards 2014; Old Times (Harold Pinter Theatre); and Earthquakes In London, Hot House, Mappa Mundi and King Lear (National Theatre).

Williams is joined by Lorna Brown, Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey) as Electra, Annie Firbank, Joshua Higgott, Luke Thompson, Angus Wright and Hara Yannas.

Orestes’ parents are at war in this family drama that spans several decades. Aeschylus’ greatest and final play, it asks whether justice can ever be done and is as pertinent today as it was when it was written more than two millennia ago.

Oresteia is designed by Hildegard Bechtler, with lighting by Natasha Chivers, sound by Tom Gibbons and video by Tim Reid.

Also at Trafalgar Studios: Athol Fugard’s My Children! My Africa! (August 4 to August 29) and Ticking, from BAFTA nominated writer and director Paul Andrew Williams (October 6 to November 7, 2015).
