YOU might be interested to know that River Island, the leading high street fashion store, has given Chickenshed over 200 outfits from their new 2009 Spring Season Collection to be used as costumes for this sell-out production of The Attraction.

It means that River Island is now able to use Chickenshed’s show to ‘cat-walk’ their outfits in the most exceptional daily fashion show.

Previously Posted: Chickenshed is presenting The Attraction, a powerful story of life, love and loss, at the Rayne Theatre – from Wednesday, March 18 to Saturday, April 4, 2009.

Set in a thriving gypsy community filled with legend and song, The Attraction follows dedicated mother Maya, her young son Max and the great Gypsy King Hal, the man she is to marry.

Their blissful existence is suddenly shattered as tragedy turns love to guilt, respect to revenge. The survival of the entire community hangs in the balance and with it their hope for the future.

The Attraction is described as a modern opera of and for ordinary people, portrayed through the music and dance central to this global community’s rich culture.

Seating will be in the round.

The Attraction is an original Chickenshed production and was first performed at The Shaw Theatre in 1990 – before Chickenshed had its own theatre. The following year it ran at The Place, where it was not only performed before Diana, Princess of Wales but was also featured on The Wogan Show, a popular TV programme of the time.

Tickets: £14, £9 concessions, £8 school matinees.

Times: Evening performances – Wednesday to Saturday at 7.30pm; matinees – Saturdays at 3.30pm; school matinees – Thursdays at 1pm.

Sign Interpreted Performances: March 26 at 7.30pm and April 2 at 1pm.

Captioned Performances: April 2 at 1pm and April 3 at 7.30pm.

Audio Described Performances: April 1 at 7.30 and April 3 at 7.30pm.
