Previously Posted: Full casting has been announced for the UK premiere of Nick Payne’s Elegy, which runs at the Donmar Warehouse from April 27 (previews from April 21) to June 18, 2016.

The line up comprises Barbara Flynn as Carrie, Nina Sosanya as Miriam and Zoë Wanamaker as Lorna, all making a return to the Donmar stage.

Directed by Josie Rourke, Elegy imagines a very-near future in which radical and unprecedented advances in medical science mean that it’s now possible to extend life.

What if every neuron in the human brain could be mapped and decoded? Every act of human behaviour catalogued and wholly understood? Through the beautiful and moving story of three women who’ve made the choice between love and survival, Elegy explores a world in which the brain is no longer a mystery to us. But at what cost?

Barbara Flynn previously appeared at the Donmar in Versailles and The Bullet. Her theatre credits elsewhere include Copenhagen and Hamlet (Sheffield Crucible), The Revenger’s Tragedy and King Lear (National Theatre) and An Experiment with an Air Pump (Hampstead Theatre).

Flynn’s many television credits include the title role in Pat & Cabbage, The Borgias, Cranford, New Tricks, The Queen, Cracker and Open All Hours. She has also appeared in the films 1864 and Miss Potter.

Nina Sosanya returns to the Donmar having previously appeared in The Vote, Privacy, both directed by Josie Rourke, and The Vortex. Elsewhere, her theatre credits include The Young Chekov Season (Chichester Festival Theatre), Apologia (Bush Theatre), Love’s Labour’s Lost and As You Like It (RSC), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Novello Theatre) and Fix Up (National Theatre).

Her screen work includes W1A, Last Tango in Halifax, Silk, Shetland, Wizards vs Aliens and Treasure Island (TV); Manderlay and Love Actually (film).

Zoë Wanamaker previously appeared at the Donmar in Boston Marriage, The Glass Menagerie and her Olivier Award-winning performance in the title role of Electra. Her most recent stage credits include Harlequinade (Garrick Theatre) and Stevie (Hampstead Theatre). Other theatre credits include The Cherry Orchard, Much Ado About Nothing and The Rose Tattoo (National Theatre), Passion Play (Duke of York’s Theatre) and All My Sons (Apollo Theatre).

On Broadway, she has received Tony Award nominations for her performances in Piaf, Loot, Electra and Awake and Sing.

Wanamaker screen work includes My Family, Poirot, Doctor Who and Mr. Selfridge (TV); Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, My Week with Marilyn and Wilde (film).
