The Wizard of Oz - further casting announced

FURTHER casting has been announced for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s revival of The Wizard of Oz, which opens at the London Palladium on March 1, 2011 (previews from February 7).

Joining Over the Rainbow winner Danielle Hope (as Dorothy) and Michael Crawford (The Wizard), will be Hannah Waddingham (Wicked Witch of the West), Edward Baker-Duly (Tin Man), David Ganly (Cowardly Lion), Paul Keating (Scarecrow) and Emily Tierney (Glinda).

The Wizard of Oz is the story of Dorothy’s epic adventures through the Land of Oz to meet the Wizard. Along the way, she meets the Scarecrow who needs a brain, the Tin Man who wants a heart, a cowardly Lion who desperately needs some courage, and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Olivier Award nominated Hannah Waddingham‘s theatre credits include The Witch in Into the Woods (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre), Desiree Armfeldt in A Little Night Music (Menier Chocolate Factory and Garrick Theatre), The Lady of the Lake in Monty Python’s Spamalot (West End and Broadway), Lautrec (Shaftesbury Theatre), The Beautiful Game (Cambridge Theatre) and Tonight’s The Night (Victoria Palace Theatre).

Edward Baker-Duly‘s theatre work includes Rookery Nook (Menier Chocolate Factory), Gone with the Wind (New London Theatre), South Pacific, Salad Days, The Lady Vanishes, Dick Barton Special Agent, Singin’ in the Rain, Anyone Can Whistle, Side by Side by Sondheim and Twelfth Night.

David Ganley has previously appeared on stage in The Beauty Queen of Leenane (Young Vic), Chicago Cambridge Theatre), The Full Monty (Prince of Wales Theatre) and Peter Hall’s production of Uncle Vanya (English Touring Theatre).

Paul Keating, who has twice been nominated for an Olivier Award, has most recently appeared on stage in the title role of Tommy (Shaftesbury Theatre), Tick…Tick…BOOM! (Duchess Theatre) and Seymour in The Little Shop of Horrors (Menier Chocolate Factory and West End).

Emily Tierney, who has previously covered the role of Nessarose in the musical Wicked, was recently seen on stage as Sally in All the Fun of the Fair (Garrick Theatre).
