Anita Baker announces London date

Anita Baker

Story by Jack Foley

AMERICAN soul singer Anita Baker has announced a date at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday, June 26, 2007.

With her refined brand of romantic soul, Anita Baker, was one of the definitive female singers of the ’80s and ’90s. Gifted with a strong, supple alto, Baker draws her influences not only from R ‘n’ B, but jazz, gospel and traditional pop.

She is widely considered to be one of the most popular, romantic singers of her time.

In an incredible career, Baker has sold more than 13 million records and is an eight-time Grammy Award winner, whose live concerts offer expert presentations of R&B, pop and jazz.

Her broad musical appeal has inspired collaborations with Luciano Pavarotti, the late Frank Sinatra and Luther Vandross.

Baker released her major-label debut, Rapture, in 1986, which became a platinum, Grammy-winning smash, appealing to both urban and adult contemporary listeners and producing two classics in the form of Caught Up In The Rapture and Sweet Love.

Signed to Blue Note Records, her latest album My Everything is now available to buy.

The concert takes place on Tuesday, June 26 at London’s Royal Albert Hall and tickets are priced at £50 and £31.50. Call 020 7589 8212.
