Jorja Fox returns to CSI
Story by Jack Foley
CSI actress Jorja Fox is returning to the crime drama for five episodes of the show’s forthcoming tenth season.
The popular actress initially left the series during its eighth season when her character, Sara Sidle, quit due to job burnout. She featured briefly in the ninth season when her character returned to mark the departure of William Petersen’s Grissom character, with whom Sara had been romantically linked.
It is not yet known what Sara’s return will mean for her relationship with Grissom, or whether it will pave the way for Petersen’s return – although executive producer Carol Mendelsohn said there were no immediate plans to bring Grissom back.
She added: “We’re thrilled for Jorja’s return to CSI. Viewers and longtime CSI fans will be excited to discover where life has taken Sara and what brings her back to the CSI team in Las Vegas in our premiere episode.”
Fox’s return is part of a joint decision by CBS executives and CSI producers to make significant creative changes to the show in light of the ratings slide that followed Petersen’s departure and his replacement by Laurence Fishburne.
While generally winning critical acclaim for his performances, some of the plotlines surrounding Fishburne’s central character left viewers underwhelmed.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation returns to US TV for its tenth season on September 24.
